Curtiss-Wright Debuts Family of Rugged, Modular High-Voltage DC/DC Converters

EUROSATORY 2024 (Hall 5B, Booth #B392) – PARIS NORD VILLEPINTE EXHIBITION CENTER, VILLEPINTE, France – June 17, 2024 – Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions Division, a trusted, proven supplier of precision motion control systems, today introduced its first line of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) high-voltage DC/DC converters designed for use in low- to high-voltage aerospace, defense and industrial electronic systems. The LV-HV-DCC family of modular and scalable DC/DC converters enables intelligent, safe power management of input/output parameters, including power, voltage, and current. Designed to bidirectionally convert low-voltage and high-voltage power signals in deployed applications, the first four members of this new product family support configurable voltage levels up to 750 V and meet international standards for high-voltage electronics and environmental standards for defense and aerospace deployment. Built for maximum flexibility, the modular LV-HV-DCC DC/DC converters can be easily configured to support additional voltage levels per customer requirements.

“Our new LV-HV-DCC line of modular and configurable high-voltage DC/DC converters is designed to perform optimally in harsh, deployed environments,” said Brian Perry, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions. “The LV-HV-DCC power converter family is built to meet the most stringent environmental standards for military ground vehicles and commercial automotive safety standards, making them ideal for use in a wide range of aerospace, defense and industrial applications where the highest levels of reliability and performance are critical. Now, for the first time, we are bringing our expertise as a leading supplier of high precision, field proven motion control solutions to the COTS DC/DC converter market.”

The first members of the LV-HV-DCC converter family include 8 kW/450V, 8 kW/750V, 12 kW/450V, and 12 kW/750V configuration variants. Curtiss-Wright also plans to announce additional LV-HV-DCC products that are able to support voltages >750 V as customer requirements evolve (for applications that require high voltage DC/DC conversion >750 V, please contact the factory). The LV-HV-DCC converters are ideal for use in demanding applications across multiple domains for use on air, ground, and naval platforms, including fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, tanks, mobile radar stations, cranes, trucks, excavators, war ships, and submarines.

The use of leading communications standard interfaces enables LV-HV-DCC DC/DC converters to be seamlessly integrated into a broad range of system architectures and environments. To ease and speed system development and integration, Curtiss-Wright LV-HV-DCC DC/DC products ship with a user-friendly service application that enables the DC/DC converters to be easily configured, optimized, and integrated with just a few clicks.
