PacStar CEO, Peggy Miller, Recognized as a 2018 Woman of Influence

PORTLAND, Ore. – April 23, 2018 – PacStar®, a leading developer and supplier of advanced communications solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), is proud to announce that Peggy Miller, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, has been named a Portland Business Journal 2018 Women of Influence award winner. In its 15th year, the award recognizes the region’s most influential business women for their professional accomplishments, outstanding leadership, and efforts to better the Portland community. Peggy is one of 25 women selected from more than 400 nominations.

“Without Peggy’s skills and leadership, PacStar could have failed at various points in the past and would not be the company that it is today, where employees thrive and prosper and don’t want to leave,” said George Stroemple, PacStar chairman and founder.

Peggy Miller, CEO of PacStar

Miller has established a strong record of building businesses, strengthening finances, encouraging innovation and supporting the community. Initially responsible for overseeing the company’s finances, Miller joined the PacStar management team in 2007 as chief financial officer. In 2009, PacStar promoted Miller to chief operating officer, and again in 2015 to her current role as chief executive officer. During her tenure, PacStar’s revenue and workforce has doubled, with 40 percent of that growth over the past year.

Prior to joining PacStar, Miller served in an executive capacity for a variety of companies, including as CEO of privately held Astoria-Pacific International, President of Concero, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Monstermoving.com. Miller also co-found Virtual Relocation.com, which later sold for $80 million to Monster.com. Miller also served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Bioject Medical Technologies, Inc. and Vice President of Finance at Oregon Health and Science University.

In addition to her successful business career in a male-dominated industry, Miller has a track record of meaningful community involvement. Most recently, Miller has been a strong supporter of local educational youth camp, NW Cyber Camp, and in particular their “girls only” session, which is designed to encourage interest from girls in the cyber security field in an environment led by women professionals.

“I am particularly interested in inspiring young women to pursue careers in STEM, for whom early mentors are key in stimulating their interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In fact, I was encouraged by my high school teachers to join the math team which led to my life-long interest in science and to a highly rewarding career in technology,” said Peggy Miller.
