PacStar Reaches Major Milestone with 75,000 Wireless Access Points Delivered
U.S. Military Gains Benefits in Performance, Coverage, Manageability and Security with PacStar Wireless Access Point Installations

PORTLAND, Ore., March 28, 2018 – PacStar®, a leading developer and supplier of advanced communications solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), today announced the delivery of its 75,000th wireless access point to programs including the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), Defense Health Agency (DHA) and U.S. Army Reserve Command (USARC). PacStar’s delivery is based on the highly regarded Wi-Fi mobility infrastructure from Aruba Networks (A Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Company).

PacStar reached this milestone by installing over 10,000 access points in the last two years, fielding teams in over 14 different countries across North America, Europe and Asia. PacStar completed each installation on time or ahead of schedule and on budget, despite unexpected challenges such as delays due to conflicts in site schedules and work stoppages caused by a typhoon. Site staff praised PacStar installers for completing projects quickly, efficiently and quietly, with no operational friction and low management burden.

“We’re extremely pleased with PacStar’s collaboration in network design and logistics, and their exemplary performance in field project management and implementation in these worldwide military Wi-Fi deployments,” said Dolan Sullivan, Aruba Networks Vice President Federal, “PacStar makes doing business with the DoD easy, and adds to our customer’s total experience – reflecting well on Aruba.”

“PacStar has been successful in these engagements because we understand the challenges of DoD facilities around the world, and are able to meet demanding military requirements with a minimum of complications,” said Peggy Miller, PacStar Chief Executive Officer. “PacStar always delivers on its commitments, ensuring project success and providing outstanding value in both technology and service.”

Aruba Networks Wi-Fi technologies are well recognized throughout the DoD as having industry leading performance and security capabilities, providing peace of mind and confidence for network and security managers. PacStar installed Aruba wireless access points in a variety of facilities including DoDEA schools, DoD bases, and hospitals. Some key attributes that led to the selection of Aruba Network wireless capabilities include:

  • 11ac and Wave 2 technology for high performance
  • Lightweight access point security architecture, with end-to-end encryption from Wi-Fi client to central wireless controller
  • Extensive DoD security certifications, including certifications for use in classified networks
  • Seamless integration with Aruba AirWave central management for wireless intrusion prevention
  • Integration with Aruba ClearPass a comprehensive, centralized network access control system

“I’m proud of what PacStar’s dedicated team of highly certified Aruba advanced wireless network engineers has accomplished,” adds Josh Furrer, Director of Sales for PacStar Enterprise IT Services. “Based on our 19 years’ experience serving the DoD, we’re looking forward to extending that support to more facilities DoD-wide.”
